What about Common Sense PR?

I am by no means a PR guru, but one can easily spot where good PR is done. And with small organisations, sometimes it is hard to get some decent PR running. Then again, there are talented people who work on a small budget and still manage to do some Common Sense PR. A good example of it would be the Lunch with SU Officers Gina Davies staged today at The Hub.

The Context: the newly elected Students’ Union officers will start their mandates at the end of this month and -common sense- they needed to get to know some people from the capus media and viceversa.

The Result: Gina organised a lunch session in The Hub, invited representatives from all the campus media outlets (The Linc, Bullet and SirenFM) together with the new SU officers to grab a sandwich and some crisps and gather round a table to get to know eachother.

Even though I expected it to be a bit stuffy, the atmosphere was quite relaxed and friendly. Mike Beddoes and Daniel Hutchinson showed up a bit later and exchanged a few lines. All decent, not flashy, but efficient PR. And on a minal budget (though the sandwiches were M&S, and I’m not complaining here).

Taking in consideration the SU Media Awards she organised as well (Dave Lee got the most prizes for The Linc, and the ceremony was gracefully managed), Gina could consider a different carreer path.

Nice one Gina.

Thanks Daniel - although the danger with PR is that people will think I’m paying you to write this ;-)

Well, with this occasion I have to mention that I am not representing LSU in any way, or charging any fees for this post. I went to the event on behalf of The Linc.
